A 2018 Coaching Announcement: What It Was, and Why the Free Material Came First
This is a three-and-a-half-minute clip from June 2018, and it isn't about keto or nutrition. People had messaged me asking about coaching, and this is me announcing a small trial. I'm listing it so the archive is complete. This page doesn't sell anything or link to any offer, and nothing here is available to sign up for.
In this recording
- [0:01] A shorter video than normal. The first coaching group would run 30 days with five people, so I could keep the quality up and work out what I could do best as a coach.
- [0:43] The individual part: everyone already gets my general approach for free; coaching would look at a person's own sticking point, like emotional eating, meal prep, finding recipes that fit their macros, or fitting exercise in.
- [1:23] I said I would keep providing everything for free (live QOEP6699). Coaching was for people who wanted someone to check in, had dietary restrictions, or just wanted their questions answered directly instead of digging through videos.
- [2:43] Only five people, because I didn't want to get overwhelmed, and I said it might not be something I ever did again.
What it shows
Two things in the clip are worth keeping. First, the line at [1:23]: the free material stays free. The guide, the videos and the posts on this site are meant to be enough to start on your own, which is why they exist.
Second, the list at [0:43] is a good map of where people actually get stuck. Hardly anyone needs a better explanation of ketosis. They need help with emotional eating, with meal prep, with turning a protein target into recipes they'll eat, and with fitting exercise around a diet. Meal prep and exercise came up five days earlier in the Tough Love Live (live QPOU6932), and the list lines up with the goal I set for KetoDick: helping people "consider their priorities and obstacles", in a space free of "suspicious sponsors and poor business ethics".
If one of those sticking points is yours, start with the free pieces below. If you have a medical condition, take medication for diabetes or blood pressure, are pregnant, or have a history of disordered eating, the right one-on-one help is your doctor or a registered dietitian, not a keto coach.
Key points
- A short 2018 announcement of a five-person coaching trial; not a keto lesson.
- I said the free material would stay free.
- The real sticking points it names: emotional eating, meal prep, recipes for your macros, and exercise.
- Medical questions go to your doctor.
